E.news Weather Commercial

Well, I have been a busy guy these past 2 months. I have been in South Africa now for 64 days. I continue to love every bit of it. The 24-hour news channel is about to launch. Here is a promo-shoot that is airing on the terrestrial and DSTV channels in South Africa. Don't worry...I think I look funny too. Hope this brings a smile to your face. Miss you all!

Haha, I laughed quite alot when I first saw this advert on the eNews Channel.

Coming from South Africa, I never actually thought about how difficult it would be for an international visitor to pronounce our cities/provinces names.

I just want to let you know, Derek, that you're doing a great job here in South Africa. You're a fresh, young face in the weather department which makes weather worth watching.

Keep doing what you're doing :)

    Your South African fan.

    P.S. Your hair is awesome!

  11. Hey Derek,

As an American that's your age, but left Florida when I was 6 and have lived here for many years, welcome welcome welcome! It's very good to have you here and you're doing an awesome job, hope the adjustment process isn't too hectic. You can see some of that FOX, ABC, NBC news flair in the weather forecasts (but yes, our radar leaves much to be desired).

I remember when I was 12, being excited to do the weather in the mock-studio at CNN in Atlanta... was awesome as a kid, so it's great you're received such an amazing opportunity.

Just was in U.S.A. working for 2 years, but decided to come back to the Mother City... be careful, this place really gets under your skin extremely quickly... But I think God took some extra time to create this place. Hope you make tons of mates, adjust quickly and don't get to hoarded by fans; Trust me, SA has very few celebrities, so you may be the first Weather Man in People Magazine! ;-) Haha. Enjoy Cape Town and all of the best in SA!

    Cheers
    Andres

  13. I googled your name and found this blog. Just wanted to tell you that I now officially love watching the weather!
I won't lie, I almost fell out of my seat when I heard an American accent, and I thought it was a joke at first.
You are doing a superb job and are very entertaining.
I will be looking forward to many more weather briefings. I am going to mention you to the kids in my class, weather reporting has never been so educational.
    Good job!
