Best Newcomer to South Africa
YOU Spectacular Awards Ceremony from 3 September 2008.
Hi Derek, I was carving pumpkins today and thought about you. I don't know how else to contact you, but happy early Halloween. I know this is your favorite time of the year!
I have been reading your blog after I dilligently looked you up via the web (don't worry - not psychotic or a stalker). The reason I looked you up is because I am living in South Africa presently, until around Noevember 09. I have a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship from Rotary International. I am originally from Pittsburgh, PA, but am living in Bloemfontein during my scholarship. Flicking between news channels and trying to get a grasp on the on again-of again rains during these summer months, I was taken aback when I heard your sweet, familiar accent reporting the weather. Moreover, I was impressed by your non-stuttering, confident and flawless naming of the various provinces and regions of South Africa. I am impressed, and no matter how many negative feebacks you may hear regarding people who wish they had your position - I give you mad props. Adding to my already impressed impression, was this blog - which reveals a humanitarian, compassionate side of you that I was even more stricken by. Well, I guess the only thing left to do is leave my number and hold my breath! Seriously, I would love to chill sometime - though I know it's a loooong shot.
Email is antoinettenoeleyth@gmail.com - God I hope this doesn't circulate! But its worth it to possibly chat with you, I hope you count it as worth the effort to reach out - Later... oh, if it helps to ease your tension, I have a BA in Psychology, going for a Masters in Divinity in the states (yup - studying to be a minster) and am presently going for a Masters in Governance and Political Transformation - see, I'm deep :-) Seriously, contact me, it's been rough making friends here, especially with all of the racial divides...
Hey Derek! Happy Birthday!! Things look as they are going well for you! Congrats on all your accomplishments! Have a wonderful day today! :)

Well, it is a relief to see one "Pro" Presenter on Sa tv and that includes Sat tv. Good for you.
